About Us

About Public Awareness Theater Productions, Inc.

Since 1984, Public Awareness Theater Productions, Inc. has traveled throughout the United States performing various stage plays written and produced by yours truly, Dr. Lance Brown. We have performed in 39 states, in multiple venues, including military bases, college campuses, civic auditoriums, and for sororities, civic organizations, and churches.

Theater professionals and other individuals have asked numerous times when  Public Awareness Theater Productions, Inc.'s stage plays will be put on film. The time has come for me to respond to that question. The time has come for me to turn the page on presenting the productions on stage.

I have been blessed to hear the applause and cheers from audiences across the country, young and old, stating how the production has helped them to see possible solutions to personal situations they are dealing with.

At this time, we are entering a new chapter of Public Awareness Theater Productions, Inc., with One Child’s Prayer being produced as an independent film. It is my hope and prayer that every ten to twelve months, we can transition another Public Awareness Theater Productions, Inc. stage play to film.

Each production is costly. I walk by faith that God, who has given me the creativity, will continue to bless my efforts as I take this giant step.

We solicit your financial support.

The Current Productions Include

Each of these stories addresses different issues within the community, particularly with young people. These national touring stage productions were created to bring awareness to communities about the concerns people deal with every day.

Public Awareness Theatre Productions, Inc. is transitioning to create films, based on the stage productions. The first film is ONE CHILD’S PRAYER, is a serious drama dealing with the sensitive issue of a young girl who is a victim of child abuse

Other Productions

The other productions are I’M SAVED, with its hand-clapping, foot-tapping gospel, and contemporary music addresses issues of a local church on its spiritual journey; THE FIRST SEMESTER tells the story of five African-American students on a majority college campus who are faced with making choices, decisions, and the consequences of their actions; SUNSET HIGH addresses challenges faced by today’s middle and high school students, including bullying, peer pressure, and disrespect for school authority; LOVE DOESN’T HAVE TO HURT, focuses on one young woman’s struggle with domestic violence on a college campus; and CIRCLE OF LOVE looks at the relationships of three couples who have been friends since college, and one woman’s struggle with breast cancer and leukemia and how some men react to these diseases.

These productions are important, as they educate others to the challenges in life faced by many. We hope you they inspire our audiences to take time to learn about the issues within our communities.

The students and faculty at Shivers Junior High and Aberdeen High School really enjoyed the play Sunset High, performed by Public Awareness Theater. It provided our student the opportunity to view social and cultural kills of our society in a dramatic way.

Public Awareness Theater has been performing on the campus of Coahoma Community College since 1993. Love Doesn’t Have To Hurt  was powerful, and some students confessed that the play mirrored their current  or past situations.
